You can't carry a set of weights in your pocket, but Fabled Cables are a pretty good substitute. Introduced in 1993, Fabled Cables are IronMind's version of the "chest expander" you used as a kid. Streamlined for fit, feel and function, our Fabled Cables are ready for action at home, in the gym, at work, or on the road--anytime, anywhere.
The set comes with 5 natural rubber bands, each about 4 kg (9 lb.) of resistance, 20 kg (44 lb.) for the set of 5.
Sale sets of cables are original modelswith rigid handle and buckle for adjustment, sheath, and new green bands.
No. 1240-A (1 lb.) $49.95

The best expander set available | 12/19/2011 |
I own several versions of expanders and my favorite is from Ironmind: 1 Handles quality despite very light weight, bands quality, rubber extension... 2 Little metal in the expander set allows cabin transportation when getting through airline security. To change bands quickly, keep all your bands in one handle and use a carabiner on the other handle to adjust quickly. Perfect. Date of purchase 2004!

Not bad but could be a lot better | 12/2/2011 |
The Fabled Cables are a good way to train when on the road or unable to get to the gym. There are some major drawbacks. The first is the ability to change cables. A clip or a carabiner would be a much quicker way to change cables than to unravel the buckle. The second is the price. There are other companies that sell cable/bands that are much less expensive.
